KidSmart

KidSmart is an after school academic enrichment program run by Bayshore Christian Ministries (BCM) that supports the academic and social development of the children of our community. BCM has been working with youth in the community since 1984.

Volunteer Role

Volunteers are needed to provide homework help, one-on-one reading and help with outdoor recess games.

Students or People Served

1st-6th grade students

Volunteer Times

The program runs after school 3:00-6:30 pm on Monday-Thursday, September through May, although volunteers can come for at least one hour at whatever time works best for them. For example, some volunteers choose to come 5:30-6:30 and others are here 4:30-6:00.

Program Services

At BCM’s building, 1001 Beech Street in East Palo Alto

Volunteer Commitment

Preferably volunteers can commit to serve at least one hour per week for one semester. Serving every other week also works.

Volunteer Requirements

Volunteers need to be 18 or older, fill out a Volunteer Application, and do LiveScan fingerprinting

Volunteering

Looking for a way to serve? Come to KidSmart to be a reading tutor or a classroom tutor. What the kids we serve need is a safe place to get their homework done, build their academic skills, and be encouraged to love learning and reading.
